Luminaura candles are poured in 100% natural soy wax with cotton wicks and phthalate-free fragrance oils, so they burn cleaner than paraffin — no black soot clouds, no synthetic residue on your walls. Keep the same basic rules as any open flame: burn on a flat, heat-safe surface, away from drafts, curtains and anything flammable, and never leave a lit candle unattended.

Most of our vessels give you 35–45 hours of burn time, depending on size. You'll get the full life out of a candle by letting the first burn go until the wax melts edge to edge across the top — usually 2–3 hours — which stops the tunnelling that shortens every burn after it.

Soy wax is a plant-based wax made from soybean oil, so it burns slower and cooler than petroleum-derived paraffin, which means longer burn times and less soot. It also holds fragrance oil well without needing synthetic stabilisers, which is why every Luminaura candle is poured in soy rather than paraffin or wax blends.

Tunnelling happens when a candle's first burn is cut short, so the wax only melts down the middle instead of reaching the edges. If yours has already started tunnelling, a longer burn — a few hours, until the surface finally goes flat — will usually even it back out. Going forward, always let the first burn run until the whole top has liquefied.

Trim it to about 6mm (a quarter inch) before every burn. A longer wick burns hotter and less evenly, which is what causes flickering, smoke and soot around the rim of the vessel — a quick trim before you strike the match keeps the flame steady and the burn clean.

Keep any single burn to 3–4 hours. The wax pool needs that long to melt properly, but running it much beyond that lets the vessel and wax overheat, which shortens the candle's life and isn't worth it. Let it cool completely before relighting.

The wax and fragrance are non-toxic, but the flame and hot wax aren't — treat every lit candle the way you would any open flame. Keep it on a stable surface out of reach, never leave it burning in a room you're not in, and let the vessel cool fully before it's within a curious paw or hand's reach.

Every candle is hand-poured in small batches, so small variations in wax texture, surface finish or colour are normal and not a defect — it's the same reason no two are perfectly identical. It's the trade-off for a candle that wasn't made on a production line.

We ship across India, and every candle is packed to survive transit. If something arrives damaged, reach out with photos within 24 hours of delivery and we'll replace it — that's the one situation we offer a replacement for, since candles can't otherwise be returned once used.

Keep it somewhere cool, dry and out of direct sunlight — heat and light are what cause wax to soften, sweat or fade in colour before it's even lit. Stored that way, an unlit candle holds its scent and finish well for a long time.
